Anyone who's watched any original star trek will know that amorphous blobs of gas are in fact being of supreme intelligence that toy with your minds - so beware!
Babylon 5 during the 3rd and 4th seasons actually used Hubble shots as background when they did CGI space. They brought out some of the colors, but not much more than the screenshot you have, Maer.
Some of the most beautiful space background shots I've seen in my life.
